Book Bank
Book Bank is Dymocks Children’s Charities’ longestrunning program, designed to inspire a lifelong love of reading. Supporting students in years 3–6, the program provides four brand-new books each year—one for each term—over four years. These books belong to the students, encouraging them to build personal libraries, share stories, and spark conversations with friends and family.
What makes Book Bank special is the power of choice. Each child selects their books from a diverse catalogue, including fiction, non-fiction, and graphic novels, ensuring there’s something to capture every reader’s imagination.
Students are encouraged to share their books with their classmates and take the books home to keep, at the end of every term. The students choose their books from a carefully curated list, which enables them to choose books they are interested in, which engages them with their learning.
Feedback from the schools and students consistently tells us that Book Bank is one of the most powerful ways to motivate children to read. Book Bank Programs are often supported by local companies, philanthropists or grant bodies who get to see first hand the impact their support has.
“The Book Bank program is one of the most powerful and beneficial I have been involved in. I heard from a parent on Tuesday this week of their child’s new-found enjoyment of reading. This really was a WOW moment for me and will probably change the trajectory of this child’s life”
