Our Programs
Dymocks Children’s Charities delivers three core programs that provide brand-new books to children in priority communities across Australia:
Together, these programs ensures children receive the essential literacy resources they need, especially those who would otherwise have limited or no access to books. e have limited access.
Why Our Programs Matter
Many of the children we support have very few books at home, and in some cases, none at all. Barriers such as limited school resources, lack of local libraries, outdated or depleted library collections, and financial pressures at home mean that quality books are often out of reach.
Our programs change that.
We provide only brand‑new books, carefully selected by children alongside educators and literacy professionals. Book choice matters because children, like adults, are more motivated to read books that spark their interest. Research consistently shows that when children choose their own books, they are more likely to read for pleasure, develop stronger literacy skills, and build a lifelong love of reading.
The books we provide are meant to be kept, cherished, and shared, helping children build their own home libraries and strengthening their connection to reading for years to come.
Our Commitment
Regular access to high‑quality, engaging books is a crucial first step toward improving literacy outcomes for all children. Through our programs, we aim to remove barriers and ensure every child has the opportunity to discover the joy, confidence, and possibility that reading brings.

“Most of our students do not have books at home, and we are unable to provide home-readers due to our limited assets. I know the students and families are very grateful to have a first-class school libary. I see some parents come in and just stare at the books. Some parents are illiterate themselves having not had the chance to go to school. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts”
